Twin Ponds Park - Work party05/14/2022

Activities

Spring shrubs planted by volunteers are blooming in Twin Ponds Park where other volunteers have removed weeds and put in plants native to this area . In May we will work in a wetter part of the woods beside a branch of Thornton Creek. We may add some Lupine to a dryer area along First Av. and continue weeding along First Av where the weeds once grew to four feet. Come be a part of the environmental restoration and enjoy the beauty and peace of the woods.
We have worked for five years to remove a monoculture of blackberry weeds which offer little to the natural habitat in the park. Our new plantings will interact with all the fauna in the park, be they fish, fowl, amphibians, birds insects small animals or more. We create a successful and sustainable habitat where each living organism interacts with others in a mutually beneficial way. Non native flora and fauna do not provide the same support to this habitat. Come join us and participate in this renewal.
